Visiting Ford Field as an Away Fan: The Complete Guide

Ford Field · 2000 Brush St, Detroit, Michigan
★ A warm, loud downtown dome

Ford Field is a downtown Detroit domed stadium — warm, dry, and famously loud — right next to Comerica Park in the city's revitalized core. Home to the Detroit Lions, it's walkable, easy, and a comfortable place to watch football no matter the Michigan weather. Here's how to do a Lions road trip right.

Getting There

Fly into Detroit Metro (DTW), a Delta hub about 25 minutes from downtown — you'll drive or rideshare in.

Once downtown, Ford Field is walkable, and the QLINE streetcar on Woodward links it to downtown and Midtown.

Where to Stay

Downtown Detroit puts you within walking distance of the stadium, Comerica Park, and the district — the ideal base.

Nearby Midtown is a good alternative, connected by the QLINE for a quick trip in.

Parking & When to Arrive

There are garages and lots downtown, and prepaid is smart, but if you're staying central you can simply walk or take the QLINE.

Arrive early to enjoy the downtown district around Ford Field and Comerica — plenty of bars and restaurants right there, and the dome means weather is never a factor inside.

Where Visiting Fans Sit

It's a modern domed stadium with excellent sightlines and no obstructed views, warm and comfortable, and it gets very loud indoors.

Lower levels are pricier while the upper deck is good value. Lions crowds are passionate but fine for visiting fans.

Food & What to Bring

Get a Detroit coney dog and local eats — Motor City staples on the concourse.

Check the bag policy, as the NFL clear-bag rule applies. It's indoors and climate-controlled, so weather isn't a factor inside.

The Pregame Scene

The downtown district around Ford Field and Comerica — near the Fox Theatre and Grand Circus Park — has bars and restaurants within an easy walk.

Corktown and Midtown add more, a short QLINE ride or rideshare away.

Insider Tips

Stay downtown and walk or take the QLINE — it's compact and easy. Enjoy the warm, loud dome whatever the weather outside.

Get a coney dog, pair it with Detroit's revitalized downtown, and expect a passionate but friendly crowd.
