Visiting Kaseya Center as an Away Fan: The Complete Guide

Kaseya Center · 601 Biscayne Blvd, Miami, Florida
★ A waterfront arena downtown by Biscayne Bay

Kaseya Center — formerly the AmericanAirlines Arena (renamed in 2023, and still searched under the old name) — sits on Biscayne Bay in downtown Miami, next to Bayside Marketplace and a short hop from Brickell, with waterfront views. Home to the Miami Heat, it's served by the free Metromover, so you can skip the heavy downtown traffic entirely. Here's how to do a Heat road trip right.

Getting There

Downtown Miami traffic is heavy at nearly all hours, so transit is the smart call. The easiest local option is the free Metromover — the Park West station (800 NE 2nd Ave) is one block west of the arena, and the Freedom Tower station is also about a block away. Everybody rides free.

From MIA airport, take the Metrorail Orange Line toward downtown, transfer at Government Center to the free Metromover, and exit at Park West or Freedom Tower (the Overtown/Arena Metrorail station is ~5 blocks away). Free Miami Trolley routes (Biscayne, Brickell, Coral Way) stop near the arena every 15–20 minutes, and the HEAT Gameday Express bus runs from Broward County. Rideshare drop-off is at Bayshore Dr & HEAT Blvd (address: 601 Biscayne Blvd).

Where to Stay

Downtown Miami or Brickell puts you close to the arena and the city's dining and nightlife — the ideal base.

Miami Beach is an option for the beach scene, but it's a drive across the causeway to the arena.

Parking & When to Arrive

The P2 Garage directly beneath the arena is most convenient — $20–40 depending on the event, and it fills on game days, so pre-purchase online (highly recommended). Nearby flat-rate garages within a walk include the Bayside Marketplace Garage, the College/Omni/Annex garages, and the Virginia Ave Garage (the closest covered option) — pre-book via SpotHero. There's no tailgating.

⚠️ Plan parking ahead: many surface lots directly adjacent to the arena have been permanently eliminated by downtown development, so there are fewer close options than in the past. If you drive, book a garage in advance. Otherwise, arrive early and enjoy the waterfront — Bayside Marketplace next door and nearby Brickell make an easy pregame.

Where Visiting Fans Sit

It's a modern downtown arena (~19,600 for basketball) with excellent sightlines and no obstructed views, comfortable throughout, with bay views outside. The lower bowl is premium while the upper level (300s) is the value tier. Heat crowds are relaxed and fine for visiting fans.

Food & What to Bring

There are extensive concessions with Miami's Cuban and Latin flavors, and downtown Miami plus Bayside Marketplace next door add plenty for pre/postgame in a waterfront setting.

On bags, the move is to bring no bag or a small clear bag to speed entry — clear/small bags shorten the X-ray lines. Binbox rental lockers (at the South Plaza and the P2 garage) are available for stashing items. It's indoors, so weather isn't a factor inside. Confirm the current size specifics on the venue site.

The Pregame Scene

Bayside Marketplace next to the arena and nearby Brickell are the pregame — waterfront bars and restaurants.

Grab food and drinks downtown or in Brickell (a short Metromover ride), then head over for tip-off.

Insider Tips

It's the former AmericanAirlines Arena. Ride the free Metromover (Park West station, one block) — from the airport, Metrorail to Government Center then Metromover. If you drive, the P2 Garage beneath the arena ($20–40, pre-book) is best, but nearby surface lots are disappearing, so plan parking ahead. Bring a small/clear bag or none (Binbox lockers are available).

Make Bayside your pre/postgame, stay downtown or in Brickell, pair the trip with Miami Beach, and enjoy a relaxed crowd. A comfortable, scenic away arena.
